Birth, 28 Aug 1906, Worcester, CP. South Africa. Gordon was born out of wedlock to Helena Chistina Cilliers in Worcester, apparrently whilst she was living with the Joubert Family who "adopted" him in 1909.

Gordon Pauls Birth details was sighted in the Cape Archives by a private researcher (Loretha du Plessis) and it showed no entry in the father field and one name only, Gordon.

Baptism records in the Dutch Reform Church Archives (Stellenbosch) came up negative for the years 1905-1907 and the districts of Robertson, Swellendam & Worcester.

Adoption: Indenture to Joubert Family, 1909, Worcester, CP. South Africa. 4 Indenture document found by H Clark. The indentureship was easier to do than an official adoption whereby awkward offcial questions was avoided.

Occupation: Linesman, c1920 to 1931, Cape Town City Council. South Africa.

Paternal DNA: Info, 2008, USA. With the testing of Dr Pieter J Kriel's DNA, it has now been determined that Gordon's father is likely to have been a Joubert. The search is now on to determine what exactly this link might be. One possibility is Helene Cillier's brother in law - Frederik Jacobus Joubert. The other is Jacobus Meyer Joubert, who adopted Gordon in 1909.
